Calgary Flames 3 - Chicago Blackhawks 2
March 25th, 2007 posted by SkGoldCalgary Flames won a third straight game, 3-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks, on March 25th, 2007. It was a very important win to start the Flames road trip.
Kristian Huselius scored the first goal at 2:01 into the first period. He beat Nikolai Khabibulin on the short side from the left face-off circle.
Radim Vrbata and Denis Arkhipov scored for Chicago in first period.
There were no goals in the second period, thanks to Kiprusoff and Khabibulin who made great saves.
The Calgary Flames were behind until 0:48 in the third when Dion Phaneuf fired a shot from the point and Yelle deflected the puck past Nikolai Khabibulin.
The winning goal was scored by Roman Hamrlik with 6:11 left in the third period. He blasted the puck from the left point after Wayne Primeau won a draw, and beat Khabibulin on the short side prety much the same way as Huselius.
Nikolai Khabibulin made 27 saves. Miikka Kiprusoff made 29 saves.
The Calgary Flames are only 5 points away of Colorado in the standings. It should be 7, but “thanks” to the Vancouver Canucks who lost to the Avalanche 4-5 in shootouts.
Flames continue on a road trip and their next game will be with Minnesota on March 27, 2007 at 6:00 p.m.
