Calgary Flames crashed the Minnesota Wild
March 29th, 2007 posted by SkGoldThe Calgary Flames crashed the Minnesota Wild 4:2 today. Second time in three days Flames beat Wild and both times in Minnesota. Calgary is really starting to play stronger and stronger. It is the fifth winning game in a row for the Flames.
Miikka Kiprusoff didn’t have much to do in this game. He stopped 23 shots and allowed 2 goals. The hero of the game Jarome Iginla had his first hat trick of the season.
It is becoming a tradition now for Daymond Langkow to open the score early in the first period. He scored the first goal for the Flames at 1:02. Only 18 seconds later Jarome Iginla, with a quick snap from the point, put the second puck into Menisota net.
It was the quickest game in Niklas Backstrom’s (Minnesota goalie) career. After the second goal Wild coach Jacques Lemaire called timeout and replaced him with Josh Harding.
Iginla scored one more time 12 seconds before the end of first period. Brent Burns (10:32 first period) and Mark Parrish (13:01 third period) scored power-play goals for the Minnesota Wild.
Calgary Flames are now at 94 points. The Flames have only four points less then Minnesota Wild (98 points) and are 7 points ahead of Colorado Avalanche (87 points). Colorado beat Phoenix Coyotes 4:3 today.
Calgary is going to visit the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday March 31 at 8:00 p.m.
