Detroit Red Wings ruin the Calgary Flames in opener

April 12th, 2007 posted by SkGold

Ruin, crash, destroy, smash… I don’t even know which is the better word that describes this game. 4:1 in an opener playoff game? Unbelievable. It seems like the Flames were playing a meaningless regular season game.

Wake up Flames, it’s the playoff round!!! I really hope the Calgary Flames will play a better game on Sunday.

The Red Wings out shot the Flames 46-20. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 42 shots on goal and Dominik Hasek stopped 19. The Flames had 34 penaltie minutes and the Red Wings 28.

Valtteri Filppula, Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk and Mathieu Schneider scored for Detroit. Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Schneider also had one assist each. The Calgary Flames responded only once with a power-play goal by Alex Tanguay at the end of the third period.

There are some interesting comments on the Calgary Flames blog. The Flames fans are beaching the Calgary team for this game, except for Kiprusoff of course. You may take a look here.

The next game is Sunday April 15 at 11:00 a.m.
We have to win this game.

GO FLAMES GO!!!
