Flames tie quarterfinal series with Red Wings.

It’s the second time in a row now that the Calgary Flames beat the Detroit Red Wings at the Pengrowth Saddledome. And it’s the second time in a row the score is 3:2 for Calgary. Now the Western Conference quarterfinal series with Detroit is tied at 2:2. Keep it up Flames!!!

Looks like the Flames are picking it up and are starting to play each game better and better. This game was a real pleasure to watch. It reminded me of the last playoff series with Detroit when the Red Wings were eliminated in game 6 in Calgary. I hope this series will end the same way.

Daymond Lankgow scored 2 powerplay goals and Craig Conroy also scored for the Calgary Flames. Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay had two assists. Once again Detroit out shot Calgary 35-21, but it’s not really important as the Flames won any way.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 33 of 35 shots on net. He made spectacular saves in the third period. Miikka allowed 0 goals in 10 Red Wing powerplays - unbeliveble. According to the game recap on the Calgary Flames website, defenceman Andrei Zyuzin said:

“He’s our brick wall back there,”

The next game will be in Detroit on Saturday April 21 at 1 p.m.. We need to have the same game, as tonight’s. Actually no, we need to have a better game.

As Alex Tanguay said:

“I still think we can play better. There is a lot to improve on for Saturday because we know they are going to come with their very best.”

So lets do it - GO FLAMES GO!!!
