Calgary Flames 3-2 over Vancouver Canucks

March 31st, 2007 posted by SkGold

The Calgary Flames won their sixth game in a row with a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. This win is keeping Calgary seven points ahead of the Colorado Avalanche for the final-eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference.

It was a great first and second period for the Flames. Daymond Langkow scored the first goal at 4:07 of the first period after a terrific pass by Kristian Huselius. Only 1:31 into the second period Langkow set up Craig Conroy for an empty net short-handed goal. And 2 minutes later Kristian Huselius made it 3-0 on a power play after picking up Iginla’s rebound.

Take a look at the video highlights:

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 32 out of 34 Vancouver shots. He allowed two goals in the third period and this scared the Flames fans for a bit.

Fortunately everything ended well for the Flames. Calgary played defence very well around their net and made it impossible for the Canucks to score a third goal. Well done Flames, well done.

Unfortunately Colorado beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1. The way Calgary is playing right now and with just 4 games remaining the Flames have a good chance of making the playoffs. In the last 4 games the Flames will meet the Avalanche twice. Tuesday, April 03 in Calgary and Sunday, April 08 in Colorado.

The last 4 games are expected to be very interesting.

GO FLAMES GO!!!

The next Flames game will at Pengrowth Saddledome on April 03, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
