Huge Calgary Flames Victory over Predators

March 23rd, 2007 posted by SkGold

Ya, it was an exciting game and a huge victory. The Calgary Flames won 3-2 over the Nashville Predators Thursday at the Pengrowth Saddledome. This was the first Calgary victory over Nashville since Jan 22, 2004. GO FLALMES GO!!!

The hero of the game is Calgary defenseman Rhett Warrener who scored the 3rd and winning goal in overtime by deflecting the puck through the pads of goalie Chris Mason after a perfect pass from Alex Tanguay.

Nashville opened the score at 10:04 (Jason Arnott) on a power play in first period. Then 2 minutes later, also with a man advantage, Alex Tanguay evened the score.

There were no goals in the second period.

Vernon Fiddler made the score 2-1, forty-three seconds into the third period. And at 16:13 Craig Conroy tied it at 2-2 for the Flames.

Kiprusoff stopped 23 shots on goal for the Flames and his best save was with less than 3 seconds left in the second period, a shot from Jason Arnott.

Calgary has 88 points now. It’s not very often but today we could cheer for the Edmonton Oilers who are playing Colorado. An Avalanche loss would be very useful for the Calgary Flames.

The next Flames game will be outside of Calgary with the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday March 25 at 1:00 p.m.
