Calgary Flames lost to San Jose Sharks

Thursday, April 5th, 2007 posted by SkGold

The Calgary Flames lost their second game in a row, now to the San Jose Sharks 3:4. Calgary is only 3 points ahead of Colorado after the Avalanche beat the Canucks 3:1.

Tonight the officiating was very, very bad. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the hooking call on Rhett Warrener in the first period. It seems like the NHL simply doesn’t want the Flames to get into the playoffs. The only chance Calgary has now, is to beat Edmonton on Saturday night. I am very positive that the game with Colorado on Sunday is going to be fixed by the NHL.

Calgary Flames lost to Colorado

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 posted by SkGold

The Calgary Flames had a chance to finish the season and get to the playoff round tonight. Unfortunately the Flames lost to the Colorado Avalanche 3:4. Perhaps the Calgary Flames were tired after six straight wins as they played completely different.

There were too many Calgary penalties, a total of five. Three times Calgary was penalized in the second period. Two out of the four goals scored by Colorado were power play goals. We (Calgary Flames) need more discipline, especially in matches with teams like Colorado.

Jeff Friesen, Roman Hamrlik and Daymond Langkow scored for the Flames and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 19 of the 23 shots on net. (more…)

Calgary Flames 3-2 over Vancouver Canucks

Saturday, March 31st, 2007 posted by SkGold

The Calgary Flames won their sixth game in a row with a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. This win is keeping Calgary seven points ahead of the Colorado Avalanche for the final-eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference.

It was a great first and second period for the Flames. Daymond Langkow scored the first goal at 4:07 of the first period after a terrific pass by Kristian Huselius. Only 1:31 into the second period Langkow set up Craig Conroy for an empty net short-handed goal. And 2 minutes later Kristian Huselius made it 3-0 on a power play after picking up Iginla’s rebound.

Take a look at the video highlights:

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 32 out of 34 Vancouver shots. He allowed two goals in the third period and this scared the Flames fans for a bit.
