Calgary Going to the Dogs

Alderman Ric McIver has dogs on the brain. He plans to look at the possibilities of creating a handful of dog parks to help better serve the dog owners and perhaps reduce some of the conflicts between dog owners and non-dog owners.

Crackdown on Dog Dung in City Parks

As we all welcome the long-awaited warmth of spring when the ground finally begins to thaw, we head to the Calgary city parks to appreciate the signs of new life.

This photo provided to you by http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Feces_de_can_%28dog%29.jpg As you look for flowers and tree buds, you also need to watch out for disgusting dog feces that accumulated throughout the parks during the cold winter weather. As the ice melts, disgusting dog dung is revealed in pathways, bushes and grass around the parks in Calgary.

These unbagged messes are usually right where you can step in them. Unfortunately, this year’s thaw seems to be revealing more lumpy leftovers than previous years.

Pet food lawsuit launched in Alberta

A Calgary law firm Docken and Company launched an Alberta class-action suit against Menu Foods. The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Jim O’Keefe and several other pet owners from Alberta and British Columbia.

The suit seeks compensation for the pet owners, which pets suffered after eating the tainted pet food products that were recalled. It claims that Menu Foods has poor quality control and that they did not warn the pet owners in a timely manner.

Docken and Company is inviting Albertans whose pets became sick to join the class-action lawsuit against Menu Foods.
