Update on Pet Food Recall

It has been confirmed that rat poison was found in the pet food that caused the many dog and cat illnesses and deaths in North America. 42 brands of cat food and 53 brands of dog food have been recalled by Menu Foods.

Now also the Nestle Purina PetCare Co. is recalling varieties of its Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes. However, Purina issued that products available in Canada are safe, as none of the recalled products have been sold in Canada.

Warning for Calgary Pet Owners.

There is a massive pet food recall going on across North America by Menu Foods. This recall hits Calgary as well. All of Calgary ‘s pet food suppliers including Wal-Mart and Safeway are pulling products from their shelves after 10 animal deaths in the United States and several more in Canada.

The dogs and cats died after kidney failure. An unknown number of animals are still sick.

Several popular brands such as Presidents Choice, Eukanuba, Iams, Nutro and Western Family are being recalled. A complete list of the recalled products is available here. The recall only affects wet food in cans and foil pouches sold from Dec. 3rd to March 6th that have chunks of meat in gravy.
