Calgary Real Estate - invest or not invest?

For the last couple years the Calgary Real Estate market has been very hot, or maybe it’s better to say “on fire”. The people who invested in Calgary Real Estate two years ago and have now sold their property have made from about $100,000 to $200,000 or maybe even more. So… is the Calgary Real Estate market still hot? Is it still a good time to invest in Calgary Real Estate?

Calgary Offers Rental Aid: Too Little, For Not Many?

Calgary renters will get some relief. Well, only 225 will get about $400 worth of relief each.

The province is sending $2.3 million to Calgary to help offset the sweltering costs of renting.

With the current situation of Mission area residents, where apartment rental rates are facing huge leaps in dollar amounts to force residents out, how can this minor rental assistance begin to a take a chunk out of an enormous problem?


According to Calgary Liberal MLA Dave Taylor, the program has merit. “Clearly, 225 is just a drop in the bucket, but it’s a start.” He does concede that more needs to be done. (more…)

Housing: Calgary Offers to Listen But Doesn’t Offer to Act

Tenants of a Mission - area apartment building have taken Calgary’s advice to heart. Unfortunately, they’ve received no satisfaction, not even an iota of sympathy, from the government.

Deanna Webb and Bradley Apps, both tenants at a building where the rent will skyrocket from $700 to $1900, heard the politicians telling residents to call the city with their housing concerns.


Both residents wrote their concerns and sent them to Service Alberta. Both received similar replies asking them to prove that their building was going to become condos. (more…)
