According to the parents of an 18 year old boy, hold ups at the Calgary Rockyview hospital and misdiagnoses at a walk in clinic caused the death of their son last month from a ruptured appendix.
Wendy Baseotto said her son Jordan Johanson went to a walk in clinic that prescribed antibiotics because the boy had started to feel sick two days earlier. They antibiotics didn’t seem to help, so the next night Wendy took Jordan to the Rockyview emergency unit on a Saturday at 7:30 pm. Read the rest of this article »

It’s the second time in a row now that the Calgary Flames beat the Detroit Red Wings at the Pengrowth Saddledome. And it’s the second time in a row the score is 3:2 for Calgary. Now the Western Conference quarterfinal series with Detroit is tied at 2:2. Keep it up Flames!!!
Looks like the Flames are picking it up and are starting to play each game better and better. This game was a real pleasure to watch. It reminded me of the last playoff series with Detroit when the Red Wings were eliminated in game 6 in Calgary. I hope this series will end the same way.

Because of the extremely cold temperatures and threat of a huge snowfall last night, the Salvation Army added 100 mats and cots to the 498 beds available at the two centers for homeless people. |
Because meteorologist are predicting serious cold and snowfall Maj. Gary Brown, spokesperson for the Salvation Army, stated,
“Our provision of this emergency accommodation is a compassionate response to the cold weather. We want to do everything possible to make sure that people are safe and warm.”
The snow, rain and cold are anticipated to continue through Friday.
Homelessness is a growing problem in according the Calgary’s annual YMCA meeting yesterday. Read the rest of this article »
