After a four hour debate, the city council decided to back the Calgary curbside recycling plan that was originally going to cost taxpayers $21 a month.

The vote was close and came up 8-7 in favour of beginning a door-to-door recycling that is supposed to begin on January 1, 2009.
After meeting for two days to debate the program, Ald. Madeleine King became the deciding vote to support the idea. |

Yeeeee HAW! Calgary Flames beat the Detroit Red Wings 3:2 today in Pengrowth Saddledome. This is a huge come back for the Calgary Flames in this quarterfinal playoff series with the Detroit Red Wings. The series is now 2-1 for Detroit.
The Flames played much better than in the previous games one and two in Detroit. It was a much more physical game, and they were much more disciplined. Finally, we can see that Jarome Iginla can play. He did a screen on the second Calgary Flames goal by Mark Giordano and scored the beautiful winning goal. Read the rest of this article »

It was great to hear that Calgary is in the top three western cities to set record home sales that past month.

According the MLS data that was received from the Canadian Real Estate Association, new monthly price records were set in at least eight cities. The three cities to top this records were Edmonton, Saskatoon and Calgary. |
Home owners such as myself will be glad to note that in March the average home resale price was $316,572. This increase is more than $5,000 since last month and represents a 9.5 percent increase over this time last year. Read the rest of this article »
