Warning for Calgary Pet Owners.
March 19th, 2007 posted by SkGoldThere is a massive pet food recall going on across North America by Menu Foods. This recall hits Calgary as well. All of Calgary ‘s pet food suppliers including Wal-Mart and Safeway are pulling products from their shelves after 10 animal deaths in the United States and several more in Canada.
The dogs and cats died after kidney failure. An unknown number of animals are still sick.
Several popular brands such as Presidents Choice, Eukanuba, Iams, Nutro and Western Family are being recalled. A complete list of the recalled products is available here. The recall only affects wet food in cans and foil pouches sold from Dec. 3rd to March 6th that have chunks of meat in gravy.
Pet food companies are still trying to determine the source of the problem by conducting tests at Cornell University, New York. According to the Calgary Sun recall will cost up to $40 million.
Pet owners across North America should take this seriously and double-check the food. For more info visit the Menu Foods website or call the customer service hotline at 866-895-2708
